Netherlands to Dusseldorf

Today you are getting pictures for Dice of the cows in the Netherlands. I am having a little trouble 

with the pictures uploading, so I don't have any from Cologne yet today. They may just be a day 

behind.  

Dusseldorf was a very industrial city, and the poor people had just had a "thunderstorm" as they  called it that took out thousands of trees and killed 6 people. It was too bad, their parks looked like it would have been beautiful, but instead they were busy cutting down the limbs and hauling away debris. Dusseldorf was very damaged in the war, so much of the downtown was rebuilt after the war.  In the center of the city they had these really funky trees that I will add a picture of tomorrow, they were unaffected by the thunderstorm because they grow in a low umbrella shape and have huge knotty limbs. Great for shading their platz.

Cologne was a city we both would return to, it is home to Ford's largest European connection and employs around 17,000 people.  The cathedral took from 1284 to 1880 something to be completed, they kept running out of money. The Lutherans had to step in and finish it in the end. :) 

We went to town after a quick dinner on the boat and then off the boat to watch the World Cup. We found a bar full of Germans so that we could experience it as they do. They only had one kind of beer because Cologne is known for its Kloshe beer. One of the ladies next to us mixed her beer with coke, sounded crazy to us.  They call it diesel. They all sang the national anthem at the start of the game, a lot of country pride. Once again the country we were visiting won!
