Strasbourg and Kehl

France by way of Germany today!

We docked on the German side in Kehl and took a bus into Strasbourg on the other side of the Rhine. Strasbourg is the capital of the European Alliance, they spent a fortune on the architecture of that building.  We drove through the area and then stopped to walk though the island area in the center of the older city.  Strasbourg has been tossed back and forth between Germany and France.  Now both countries work together and even are building a tram between the two.  The ordinary French folks do a lot of their shopping across the river in Kehl because it is so much cheaper than Strasbourg. We loved the shopping in Strasbourg, we found a lamp and shelf shop that we will have to order from online. This would be a good town to book and room and stay for awhile. Above are pictures of the cathedral square.
We were supposed to take a tour of the Mercedes Benz factory this afternoon, but they had a production glitch and shut down all tours. So we went back to Strasbourg and took a canal cruise around the island.
